SEBOCES has TWO position to be hired for the 2020-2021 School Year.


Position #1
 

 School Psychologist

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

1.         A license as a school psychologist or a Special Services Temporary Teacher Eligibility.

2.         Strong background in educational, curriculum-based assessment.

3.         Excellent written and oral communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

4.         Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.  

5.         Meets insurance carrier’s annual insurability guidelines to drive. (required)

 

REPORTS TO EVALUATOR:  Exceptional Student Services Coordinator

CONSULTS WITH:  Educational staff, parents, and appropriate agencies.

SUPERVISES AND EVALUATES:  Directly or indirectly all Exceptional Student Services staff

 JOB GOAL: To identify children with special needs and make recommendations for placement and programming. 

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

        1.         Administer appropriate individual assessment instruments.

2.         Identify students with special needs and recommend appropriate interventions and placement.

3.         Confer with parents, teachers and others to obtain pertinent background information concerning the child, family, and environment.

4.         Participate in teaching and training activities conducted for parents, students, and teachers.

 5.         Apply information gained from assessment procedures to practical application within the I.E.P.

 6.         Participate in program staff meetings and other activities to improve the program’s function and organization.

 7.         Implement referral of children to appropriate agencies.

 8.         Demonstrate competencies in identification of language and auditory learning problems.

9.         Have expertise in the areas of administration, scoring, and interpreting all the necessary assessments that are appropriate for each child.

 10.       Conduct observations of children in their classrooms as needed.

 11.       Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

 12.       Observe rules of confidentiality.

 13.       Perform other duties as requested by Director of Exceptional Student Services.

Position #2

Licensed Speech/Language Pathologist. 

Successful experience (not including clinical experience year) working in a clinic and/or school situation with children with language problems is desired, but not required. Excellent written and oral communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable. Meets insurance carrier’s annual insurability guidelines to drive. Position requires travel utilizing a SEBOCES vehicle, and leaving from a designated office location/school district.
